Self Care Units

Location: Cherry Street Ballina NSW 2478

Most of the Self Contained units have 2 bedrooms and all are brick veneer with tiled roofs. The units are provided with carpet. Screens are fitted to all windows and doors. There are built-ins and the kitchen has built-in cupboards and pantry. There is an electric stove supplied but refrigerator and washing machine are not provided.

The units remain the property of St Andrews Village, the resident purchases a right of occupancy; 30% of the purchase price is retained over 5 years, calculated daily for each day the unit is deemed occupied by the resident.

A current maintenance levy is $9.60 per day for single occupants and $12.83 per day for married occupants, this is 25% of the maximum single pension and 20% of the maximum married pension.  The maintenance levy increases in line with pension increase, which currently occur twice per year. This levy covers Council rates, insurance of the buildings, gardening, all external lighting and maintenance of the community rooms.

The units are built in groups of two or, in some cases three, sharing a common wall and have lawns and shrubs in a well maintained area of pleasant surroundings with no hills to negotiate and regular bus services.

The Community Hall and Library help to create a friendly atmosphere as residents enjoy a number of varied activities.

All residents must be of retirement age.

We require a medical certificate from all residents stating, that they are physically able to live in a self care environment.

The cost of a unit ranges from $205,000 to $270,000 at present.


Services Available

Community Hall:

A Community Hall is located at the Retirement Village for special functions, entertainment etc.


Village Bus:

A facility bus provides transport for people to attend organised outings in the high, low care facilities as well as the retirement village.

Gardens:

Extensive garden areas are maintained for residents and visitors enjoyment.
